All activities on the farm at own risk

Please note that the farm has open water features like the river, the farm dams and the irrigation canal. It is impossible to fence this off, so please take care of those who cannot swim. Please see to your child at all times !

At the Private Camp you have private use of a jetty and two double kayaks. Guests who booked the HutCamp will have access to a jetty and two kayaks right below the HutCamp.

The Toktokkie hike of 5km

The Toktokkie path starts right at the river and takes you up the farm and onto the koppie which is the highest point in the area, offering lovely 360 views onto the area and the surrounding mountains, farming activities and koppies. The path leads you through unspoilt renosterveld suprising with new flowers each and every month of the year. You can take your dog along or go for a jog on the same path. Please do not litter and please respect nature. Please do not remove any plants and stay on the path. The path is sign posted and easy to follow. In winter any time of day is great for the walk, but in summer, sunrise or sunset times are the best, with misty views onto the mountains or shades of pink on the mountain as the sun sets. Please take care and be on the lookout for the Toktokkies and tortoises in summer, they also use the path. At night the wild bucks, porcupines and smaller of the wild cats use the path and you will see their droppings in the morning. You will find a rich bird life on your way and early morning you will hear the enchanting Kaapse Klappertjies as they rise straight up in the air and then fall down with their beautiful bird sound. A variety of aloes, vygies and gazanias will enchant you. If you are lucky you will see the Stapelias in bloom. Do not miss this lovely walk when you stay on the farm. Steep uphill with the path, but once you are up there it will be all worth it !!

Birdlife & stargazing

A wide variety of birds enjoy the water features, open spaces and flowering fields on the farm. At night you will see the night sky at it's best because you are in the country, while you might be lucky to hear the owls. During the day and early morning the kingfishers, the fish eagle, the Bokmakieries and many others will entertain you with their sounds and sights.

Other than that enjoy the river front for fishing, paddling, swimming and jukskei games !

In summer a game of jukskei under the flood light offers enjoyable entertainment.
